IFSW Europe: Executive update‏

Dear Social Work Colleagues,

Following our Executive Committee meeting in Vienna (14-16 September) I am very pleased to update you on some information and report on our major decisions for action of the work programme for the coming period.

New executive committee

First I must inform you that Annica Skoglund didn't attend the executive meeting in Vienna and has left her position on the executive by the end of September.

Therefore Salome Namicheishvili from Georgia, as the first deputy member, was called to join the executive meeting in Vienna and is now a new member of the executive committee of IFSW Europe following Annica's resignation.

We have welcomed Salome on this new role and given Annica a warm farewell for her period on the executive.

Work programme
The executive decided to focus on some specific targets for action in order to make it more possible the achievement of good results, so we defined the following as our main goals for the coming period:
Visibility and Voice
Membership development
Services for members

Executive Members Portfolio
We have decided on executive members lead responsibilities for different areas of the work program approved by the Delegates meeting, defining priorities where to take action.
Each executive member will be presenting their priorities for work in each area which can include organising working teams for the coming period and will report to members the actions accomplished at the Delegates meeting.

Connecting members Project
We agreed on a new distribution of countries among the executive members. The link person on the executive will be in communication with you and you can also start communicating with him/she. Please take note that the link person only acts as a facilitator for communication between you and the executive so you are also very welcome to contact any other executive member if you wish to.

Very Important New Dates!
3rd Ensact Istanbul Conference 2013
Please take note that the Ensact Conference will now start on the 16 April 2013 with the Registration and the Welcome Reception at 18h30.

Delegates Meeting
Regarding the timetable of the Ensact Conference the executive decided to change the dates of the Delegates meeting that will now be from 14 to 16 April 2013.
Information on the Venue, etc., will be sent out to members as soon as possible.

Call for a Honorary Secretary
The deadline for sending applications for the job is 30th November so we ask you to circulate this information among your members.
The new person will start working in January 2013 so that Siobhan can help with the transition.

European Social Worker
We expect to publish "The European Social Worker" in December so we invite you now to start sending any article you want us to include in the next european newsletter.
