 Dear Colleagues,

The Union of Social Workers and Social Pedagogues of Russia and the Government of the Ulyanovsk region with great satisfaction inform social workers about  that on the 23-24 August 2012 in Ulyanovsk will be held  the first international forum of social workers of the Volga region "Social Cohesion.  Open Society, Equal opportunities".
The initiative of the Forum of Social Workers of the Volga region belongs to the Governor - Chairman of the Government of the Ulyanovsk Region- Sergey Morozov and the Union of Social Workers and Social Pedagogues of Russia.
The main objective of our Forum is to improve social services and the quality of life for people with disabilities. 
For social workers of the Volga region it is an opportunity to meet colleagues, to share experiences, to learn about new forms of work with disabled people, technologies and best practices working with this group of people and the laws that protect people with disabilities. It will also focus on social workers who work in rehabilitation facilities, complex centers and residential - homes, directly with families, and the role of NGO organizations and families with disabilities - both children and adults. 
Volga Federal District has many innovative methods of work in the social sphere. Many of the regions involved  participate in various inter-regional and international programs, and as a result have experience, worth disseminating to other regions of Russia and abroad..
Forum of social workers of the Volga region will gather best practice for working with people with disabilities and the best practices of non-governmental organizations of disabled people. Much attention will be paid to social workers working with people with disabilities - issues of training and skills development, prevention of symptoms of professional burnout. 
We expect leading experts in the field of social policy of Russia, Australia, Germany, UK, Spain, France and other countries, representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation, State Duma and Public Chamber, the Council of Europe .
Some of you participated in Forums of Social Workers of Siberia and the Far East. The Republics of Altai and Tyva, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Region - Ugra, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk and Khabarovsk Regions have already hosted  their colleagues in their regions.
In the Volga region such a forum will take place for the first time. This is an opportunity for the regions of the Volga area  to support the initiatives of colleagues in Siberia and the Far East.

Those who are invited to participate:
- Heads of government agencies and NGOs working with persons with disabilities from   Russia and abroad;
- Regional Branches of the Union of Social Workers and Social Pedagogues and member associations of IFSW ;
- Managers and employees of social institutions;
- University lecturers of social work from Russia and abroad.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
21 - 22 August  - Arrival of participants of the Forum
23 August  - plenary sessions, round tables, workshops
24 August  - master classes, closing ceremony, cultural  programme
August 24-25 - departure of participants

The participation fee of €200. This will include:

Costs of providing services assisting with obtaining visa invitations and the purchase of air/rail tickets to Ulyanovsk (but not the cost of these), booking hotels.

Once your application is processed, we will send you a draft programme and all necessary instructions.
Registration will be open from 15th February to 1st July, 2012.
Please note that after 1st July 2012 receipt of applications is terminated.

Abstracts from participants of the Forum
Abstracts will be printed and given to all participants as a handout.
Requirements for abstracts - no more than 5 pages of text, 12 pt, normal style, photos of the author (not less than 800 KB, jpeg format, or a card), name, title and full name of institution, region. Send by e-mail to  rusunisw@mail.ru  - Union of social  pedagogues  and social workers of Russia with a note "Abstracts forum in Ulyanovsk."
Abstracts are accepted until 15th June 2012.

VENUE OF THE FORUM
Forum will be held in the historical city of Ulyanovsk.  Ulyanovsk is famous as the birthplace of Lenin and for the Volga river which is some 5 kilometers wide at the city. 
In addition to working part of the participants the organisers have prepared a fascinating excursion, a boat trip.

HOW TO GET TO THE VENUE OF THE FORUM:
Ulyanovsk  is using  Moscow time.
For foreign guests 
There are 4 flights from Moscow to Ulyanovsk – from Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports. The flights are morning and evening ones. The latest plane is at  20.40 from Vnukovo airport which is  55 km from Domodedovo and  from Sheremetevo 65 km.  The prices of the return tickets Moscow-Ulyanovsk – Moscow are between 160 – 200 Euros. The flight time is 1.30 – 1.50 minutes.
Many overnight trains go from Moscow Kazansky  railway station to Ulyanovsk. It will take you 14 hours to get to Ulyanovsk. The price of the tickets are 150 – 180 Euros return in coupe compartment (4 people in it ) or deluxe  compartment for 300 Euros return ( 2 people in the compartment) There is a convenient  evening train from Kazan railway station at 19.08 arriving to Ulyanovsk 9 AM. The large group of participants will travel this way.
On arrival in Ulyanovsk guests will be met and taken to the hotel by bus. Further information will be given following registration.

Accommodation in Ulyanovsk
After registration you will be sent detailed information about hotels in the city of Ulyanovsk. The cost of a good standard hotel in the city is between  €60-€100 per night. 
Should you wish us to book your accommodation, internal flights, or train tickets please inform us as soon as possible. Any payments should again be made to the Russian European Trust as above quoting the reference number you will receive from us.
