Call for a volunteer representing IFSW Europe e.V. at Social Platform
The work of IFSW Europe e.V.[1] at Social Platform[2] has increased the last year. At the moment we are represented at different working groups like, Social Politics, Services of General Interest and FRAND. But we are not able to attend lunch meetings with politicians and other meetings organised with short notice.
As IFSW Europe e.V. has no permanent representation in Brussels, we fly in to Brussels from across Europe, aiming to cover the meetings in the working groups and other half day or full day meetings at Social Platform.
Therefore we call upon candidates, who can represent IFSW Europe e.V. and social workers from across Europe at the Social Platform meetings and events where we now are not able to be present. We are looking for a person living permanently or at a temporary basis in the Brussels area, and who have knowledge about international social work, preferable a professional social worker.
The aim is to make IFSW Europe e.V. more visible, give us more information on EU business and by that strengthen the voice of social workers within Social Platform and the EU institutions.
The work of IFSW Europe e.V. is today based on voluntary work, at political and organisational level, facilitated by the European Executive Committee and the appointed representatives, including a Permanent Committee on EU issues. The appointment will follow after a formal application/nomination, deadline in April 2012, with reference to a job description. The appointed volunteer will have direct reference to a member of the European Executive Committee.
National member organisations are specifically invited to disseminate this call to members presently living in the Brussels area.

[1] IFSW Europe e.V. is one of the five regional divisions of IFSW. IFSW Europe e.V. is a registered legal body, and has 40 member associations in 35 countries, with a total of 165,600 social workers - the membership is representative as it covers all corners of Europe. IFSW Europe e.V. is governed by the Delegates Meeting which meets once a year and includes representatives from each of the member organisations. The member organisations elect the Regional President for a four year term. In addition they elect an Executive of five people which is responsible for the day to day activities of the Federation in Europe. The Executive committee is supported by the Honorary Secretary.
