Policy Officers Vacancies at Social Platform‏

The Social Platform is advertising for two policy officers. As our members might be interested please see the information following:

Social Platform is the largest civil society alliance fighting for social justice and participatory democracy in Europe. Consisting of 42 pan-European networks of NGOs, Social Platform campaigns to ensure that EU policies are developed in partnership with the people they affect, respecting fundamental rights, promoting solidarity and improving lives.

To contribute to its development, Social Platform is looking to recruit 2 Policy Officers. These are full-time positions, but we are open to alternative arrangements in order to facilitate work life balance.

Your tasks
Together with the Director and the Social Platform working groups (attended by policy staff from members’ organisations), you will work to strengthen the capacity of our members to take an active part in key EU processes, as well as developing and implementing the policy strategies and objectives of the Platform. You will also help to implement the communications strategy of Social Platform, together with our Communications and Information Officers.

Your background and skills
Essential
· Knowledge of EU decision-making processes

· Knowledge of policies relevant to social NGOs (e.g. employment, social inclusion, fundamental rights, internal market and services of general interest)

· Knowledge of and commitment to the role and values of social NGOs

· Experience in leading a campaign at EU level

· Experience in organising working groups

· Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly and simply express complex ideas

· The ability to play a proactive role in achieving a consensual approach; a good listener with proven facilitation skills

· An excellent level of written and spoken English

Desirable
· Experience of working in NGOs

· Knowledge of other European languages, particularly French
